challenges with the right lubrication

Desired Drain Intervals
As deposits form over time, they accumulate on components like pistons, piston rings, valves, springs and connecting rods. A low ash engine oil will control deposits and minimize valve recession and spark plug fouling. An oil with tailored levels of catalyst inhibitors like zinc, phosphorus and sulfur will also help protect the catalyst, with durability that extends oil drain intervals.
Heavy Duty Engine Oil Recommendations:
Optimal Start/Stop And Peaking vs Base Loading
While OEM recommendations usually involve operating their engines from 83% to 100% load, operators often de-rate their engines to as low as 50%. Operating at these levels can create inadequate cylinder pressures, which reduce the engine’s ability to maintain sufficient flow of lubricating oil to critical engine parts. It can also allow oil to leak past piston rings and enter the combustion chamber, causing damaging deposits. HDAX 9200 is formulated with a robust additive package to help minimize engine deposits.

Protection Against Siloxane
Siloxanes are compounds that form in biogas when personal care waste products biodegrade. When they burn in the high temperatures of an engine combustion chamber, they are converted to silicon dioxide (SiO2) and accumulate on pistons, cylinder heads and valves. In addition to impeding the function of critical engine components, these deposits also shorten the lifecycle of spark plugs, oil filters and engine oil. They also build up on the thermocouple and knock sensors, preventing the engine from receiving the optimal fuel/air ratio.
Heavy Duty Engine Oil Recommendations:
Prevent Piston Deposits
Over time, deposits and insoluble contaminants form in the oil and accumulate on pistons, piston rings and liners, causing excessive wear and damage. Engine oil with the right amount of ash-producing additives minimizes combustion chamber deposits to help avoid ring sticking, spark plug fouling, preignition and other conditions.

Valve Performance
The most common form of valve wear in gas-fired engines is valve recession, caused by metal abrasion, high-temperature corrosion, friction and adhesion. If not protected properly, the valve pounds back into the cylinder head (recedes) due to the repeated closing action. When valves no longer seat properly, engines can experience power loss, increased fuel consumption, roughness and excessive emissions. The right amount of ash content in engine oil can cushion the valves at contact points and significantly mitigate this condition.
