Drake Davis: Then & Now

TRC Winners TRC Winners

Drake Davis of Southmont FFA competed in the Delo TRC all four of his high school years. And while he never quite captured the Grand Champion title, he did earn Reserve Champion in 2016, earned Third Place in 2015, and was finalist in the competition all four years.  Drake has earned much more than that and he attributes part of his success to the Delo TRC.

“I had almost all of my school paid for by scholarships, which included money from the Delo TRC.  People were shocked at how many times I got called up for scholarships at my high school graduation.  Life has been treating me quite well.” said Drake. “Thank you Delo so much--this competition has helped me get to where I am today! I am so thankful to have been a part of the Delo TRC. Even though I can't participate anymore I still love to help out with it as much as possible,” he added.  Drake coached an aspiring Delo TRC participant in 2017.

In 2017 Drake won the National FFA Ag Mechanics Placement Proficiency and in 2018 won the Indiana State FFA Star in Placement. Drake will be hanging up his blue FFA jacket after the 2018 National Convention when he is recognized and receives his American degree which is awarded to students who successfully meet certain levels of achievement with their FFA project and perform several different FFA leadership activities.

Drake recently graduated from Parkland College in Champaign IL with honors. He was invited by the College Vice President to be the guest speaker at the Honor’s Breakfast.  Drake was sponsored by Bane-Welker Case IH dealership for the Case New Holland program at Parkland and recently finished his internship with Bane-Welker and will be joining the company full-time.

“Thank you, so much! I really appreciate the great opportunity you guys provided me with this contest,” added Drake.

Drake has garnered quite a media presence and has been featured in other national and regional publications including AgriNews, HoosierAgToday,  the Winchester News Gazette, Indiana Prairie Farmer,  and Journal Review.
