Conveyers/Cane CarriersThe conveyor systems used to move the cane into the mill for cutting and/or shredding need to be robust. These conveyors can be driven directly by electric motors, steam engines, steam turbines and reduction gearing, or via hydrostatic drives.
Crushing MillsA typical crushing mill will consist of three large rollers arranged in a triangular array. Tremendous pressures are exerted on the crusher rolls and the effect on roll bearings can be severe. Shaft and bearing must be separated by a strong, adhesive lubricating film.
- Oil Lubricated Roller Bearings—Meropa 1000, 1500 has high thermal stability and provides an extremely effective protective film in areas with metal-to-metal contact
- Roll Neck Bearings—Meropa 3200 Hydraulic Systems—Texaco Rando HD (46, 68, 100) is a premium lubricant giving maximum hydraulic pump protection
 Mill Drives
A number of different drive types are used on a slow-moving crushing or grinding mill. The reduction gearing used in mill drives are powered by steam or turbine engines, electric or hydraulic motors, and are among the most important drive components of a sugar mill.
Additional Sugar Mill ComponentsIn addition to drive, crushing, and conveyor equipment, Texaco offers a range of lubricants for other sugar mill machinery including knives and shredders, centrifugals, dryers, and pumps. These Texaco product recommendations provide general guidanceon for some of the vehicles and equipment used in the sugar manufacturing industry. Multiple products are shown in some places due to varying manufacturers' requirements. Refer to the manufacturers' lubrication and viscosity requirements. Please consult with your local Chevron representative for the best lubricant choice for your application.
