With ever-greater pressure to deliver lower engine emissions, both heavy duty OEMs and lubricant manufacturers have been successful in meeting increasingly stringent regulatory targets.
This need to meet bigger and more demanding legislative challenges has seen OEMs develop continually more sophisticated and reliable engine technologies. And in order to keep pace with these growing demands, the lubricant manufacturers have been developing a range of more complex synthetic or semi-synthetic formulations.
But, used fleet-wide, these lubricants can be a complex and very costly answer to legislative demands.
Unique ISOSYN® technology
That is, until now. New from Chevron and ready to launch in October is Texaco Ursa Ultra, a highly advanced Group II base oil lubricant.
Ursa Ultra is designed to meet next generation emissions regulations while maximising engine protection in a more cost-efficient way. It is formulated with ISOSYN® technology (a balanced combination of premium quality base oil and high performance additives) and delivers maximum performance at a competitive cost. |

|
Ursa Ultra’s advanced base oils are produced through sophisticated hydroprocessing technology which filters out 99.99% of impurities, re-shaping the constituent molecules to create a more refined, purer and more stable oil.
The improved base oil performance means that a lower additive treat is needed. There are also fewer impurities, resulting in less harmful combustion by-products and therefore compliance with the latest emissions legislation.
| Ursa Ultra’s unique and sophisticated technology combines advanced base oils with an optimised number of selected additives to deliver a superior lubricant. It offers maximum engine wear and corrosion protection with superior oxidation, filtration and viscosity performance, and reduced engine deposits and emissions properties. |
 |
This optimised lubricant performance in a number of key areas - wear protection, piston cleanliness and soot control – gives equivalent or better performance than many semi- and fully synthetic products available today. |
High temperature protection
Available as a highly fuel efficient 10W-30 grade with a 15W-40 option, new Ursa Ultra – through its advanced base oil and additive design – delivers world-class long-term engine protection and extended component service life under arduous high temperature operating conditions with reduced thermal oxidation.
This reduced oxidation means engines run cleaner with less soot and varnish build-up and the lubricant remains in-grade, maintaining consistent fuel efficiency throughout the lubricant service life.
Low SAPs performance, protection and reliability
Ursa Ultra is a low SAPs lubricant. This means engine emissions are low in sulphated ash, phosphorus and sulphur. This unique lubricant is also designed to deliver reduced oil consumption performance, optimising fleet economics.
| Offering significant superior engine performance and protection when compared with Euro III and Euro IV lubricants, Ursa Ultra also offers high level protection to vulnerable exhaust after-treatment systems, maximising vehicle reliability and uptime. |
|
Simple, flexible fleet reliability
While designed for use in latest generation engines, Ursa Ultra is formulated to deliver superior wear and high temperature oxidation protection, with soot handling control, to higher distance, pre-Euro V engines, maximising engine reliability and cleanliness.
Streamlined inventories and operating costs
While we believe that Ursa Ultra 10W-30 delivers the best option for operators looking to reduce carbon footprint through reduced fuel consumption, some operators need a choice of grades to meet varied operating conditions or vehicle characteristics. That’s why there’s also Ursa Ultra 15W-40. With this choice of grades you can now rationalise lubricant inventories – and operating costs, maximising commercial advantage.
