Featured Case Study: Rexco

Company Profile

Rexco, Inc. operates a mixed fleet with a wide variety of equipment from pickup trucks to heavy-duty construction equipment in the hot and dusty coastal town of Port Lavaca, Texas. Temperatures hit the high 90s on a regular basis during the summer and the humidity is almost always over 50%.

The Challenge:

Prior to using Chevron's Delo® ELC, Rexco had been using conventional coolants (low silicate) without the addition of supplemental coolant additives (SCAs). This is a common practice in the construction industry; but can create many cooling system failures by not providing protection to cooling system components and metals. Says Neil Kucera, Rexco's Maintenance Foreman, "We had been using conventional green coolant, but really wanted a single coolant maintenance program. We needed one coolant that would work in every piece of equipment, and wouldn’t require a lot of special attention."

The Chevron Solution:

Rexco has converted to Delo ELC for all its equipment, and uses Delo ELC 50/50 for top-off.

Results Realized

Since converting to Delo ELC, Kucera reports liner pitting and water pump failures have disappeared and radiators stay clean.

"I'm very satisfied with the performance of Delo ELC," says Kucera. "Improved equipment performance and reduced cooling system maintenance has helped us keep mechanics focused on other non-cooling system related maintenance needs."
